Alberta J. "Bertie” Hormann, 91, passed away July 26, 2025, at Lutheran Life Villages of South Anthony, in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born on October 3, 1933, in Wolcottville, IN, the daughter of the late Marion W. and Linda I. Smith.
She graduated from Concordia High School in 1951.
Bertie worked at General Telephone for 35.5 years and retired in 1991. After retirement, she worked with the Indiana District Missouri Synod Lutheran for 3.5 years.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church of Fort Wayne.
She and her husband enjoyed spending the summers at Adams Lake for 50 years.
Bertie is survived by her son, Kirk W. Hormann of Wolcottville, IN; daughter-in-law, Barbara (Lynn) Bradtmueller of New Haven, IN; grandchildren, Kendra (Andrew) Soliday, Jessica (Branden) Meadows, Lindsey (Brandon) Wells, Kyle (Jennifer) Hormann and Kassandra (Zachary Basinger) Hormann; and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Richard R. Hormann; son, Kent A. Hormann, in 1996; brother, Warren Smith; and sister, Iris Schlund.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Peace Lutheran Church, 4900 Fairfield Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 3:00 - 7:00 pm on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at D.O. McComb and Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN. Committal and burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
