

Alice Elaine (Fitch) Padgett was born June 26,1934 in Tiffin, Ohio. She was the third child of the Alfred E. Fitch and Cora Evelyn (Bowman) Fitch. She departed this earthly life on Sunday, March 16, 2025.
She was a graduate of Central State University acquiring a Bachelors in Education and member of Delta Sigma Theta. In college, she met Donald William Padgett who she later married in November 1957. She then moved to Fort Wayne where they would start their family.
Alice was a longtime member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.
In 1996, she retired from Magnavox after more than 30 years of devoted service. Beginning in 2004, she began working at Zion Lutheran Academy serving in the cafeteria and after school care. In the summer, she would work with the Summer Clubhouse at Zion.
In her free time, she enjoyed trips to the casino, sewing, cooking and baking, especially her world famous banana bread, Texas sheet cake and her barbeque chicken wings, just to name a few. Her vast array of culinary delights reached the tastebuds of the countless people who loved and cherished her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 38 years, Donald W. Padgett; daughter, Robin Corey; and two siblings, Floyd Fitch and Joanne Dunbar.
Alice leaves behind to cherish in her memory, one loving sister, Laura “Kathy” James of Dayton, OH; three daughters, Andrea (Kirk) Carpenter of Indianapolis, IN, Tanya (Cornell) Padgett and Thea Byrd both of Fort Wayne, IN; four grandsons, Jason (Megan) Corey, Evan (Breuina) Carpenter, Cody Carpenter and Nickolas Wiley; one great-grand pup, Mia Sophia; three great-grandchildren, Julius, Mason and Maleah; one great-great-granddaughter; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
