

ANNA E. (SHUPP) RODEWALD, 106, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010. Born Sept. 17, 1903, she was the oldest resident of Lutheran Life Villages and the oldest member of Emmaus Lutheran Church. She lived in assisted living for over 13 years, where she enjoyed good health up until the last 30 days of her life. She along with her husband Arthur J. Rodewald operated The Furniture Home from 1924 to 1974. "In her life, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great-grand-mother. If there is one sentence that would define her, it would be 'She was the sweetest, nicest and most loving person you would ever want to meet'." During her lifetime, she was active in the Emmaus Women's Guild; was a past member of Orchard Ridge Country Club; and was an active bowler and golfer. She was born in the original farm house at the Baughman Tile Mill, in Broughton, Ohio. She was the oldest descendent of the Baughman's since her mother, Mary Margaret (Allie) Baughman and father, Joseph W. Shupp were. They owned the General Store in Broughton, Ohio. She moved to Fort Wayne in 1921 and graduated from Central High School in 1922. Prior to that, she attended Paulding High School in Paulding, Ohio. Surviving are her son, Kenneth (Tina) Rodewald; granddaughters, Beth (David) Garber, Elyce (Michael Bates) Rodewald and Gretchen (James) Harvey; step-grandchildren, David (Nancy) Sholl, Dan (Penny) Sholl, Mark (Celeste) Sholl, and Steven (Connie) Sholl; 17 great grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Allie and Joseph Shupp; brother, Walter Shupp; husband, Arthur J. Rodewald (age 85), in 1988; son, Stanley J. Rodewald, in 2000; and great-grandchild, Robin Harvey, in 1995. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road, with visitation one hour prior to service. Visitation also from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens on Lake Avenue.
