

Aubrey "Dean" Powell Jr., 70, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Lutheran Hospital. He was born in Fort Hood, Texas on August 16, 1954, son of the late Aubrey and Louise Powell Sr. Dean served as a United States Marine for seven years. He retired from International Paper as a Die Mounter. Dean enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson with his wife, watching football and nascar, and helping family and friends with anything they needed. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at American Legion Post 409, in Leo, where he was a 51 year member and a Legion Rider. Dean is survived by his wife, Tina Powell; sisters, Valorie Miller and Marie (Michael) Rothgeb; daughters, Jennifer (Kenneth) Kellum, Monica (Nicolas) Sliger, and Megan (Bryan Savage) Powell; stepsons, Kenny Starnes and Zach Burnside; grandchildren, Kendall, Jeremiah, Milo and Owen; nieces, Heather, Amanda, Shawna, Christina and Michelle; nephews, Michael, Michael Jr. and Kurtis; many great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; sister-in-laws, Brenda (Dan) Rupright and Peggy (Bill “BB”) Smith; and brother-in-law, Chris (Angie) Hoffman. Dean was also preceded in death by his brother, Michael; great-nephew, Cordaryal; brother-in-law, Thad Miller; and cousin, Charles “Skeeter” Adamonis. A celebration of life with be held from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at American Legion Post 409, 14133 Leo Road, Leo, Indiana 46765, with military honors beginning at 1:30 pm. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 409 or to the family for burial costs.
