

Barbara Jane (Kimpel) Knox, 81, passed away Thursday February 24, 2022 at her home in Edgerton, OH. She was born August 20, 1940 in Bryan Ohio, the daughter of the late Gerald and Gladys Kimpel. Barbara had been a long time resident of Fort Wayne, IN and Edgerton, OH. She worked at North Side High School in the cafeteria for 17 years and retired in 1998. Barbara was a former member of the Zion Church in Edgerton.
She is survived by her daughter, Renee Ruggiero of Edgerton, OH; sons, Kenneth (Jackie) Knox of Auburn, IN, Tony (Toni) Knox of Auburn, IN; daughter, Mindi (Louis) Herman of Edgerton, OH; grandchildren, Mark (Kelly) Ruggiero of Connecticut, Amara (Ben) Sobczak of Huntertown, IN, Ty (Alexandria) Knox of Auburn, IN, Taylor (Chad) Hollenbeck of Noblesville, IN, Taytum Knox of Marietta, GA, Jake Herman of Lima, OH, Allie Herman of Bryan, OH, Jamie Herman of Greensburg, KY; brother Delno Kimpel of California; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, O’Neill Knox (1986); Son, Monte Knox; Grandson, JaBraun Knox (KIA Afghanistan); granddaughter, Brandy Banks; and daughter-in-law, Kelly Knox.
A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave. Fort Wayne, with visitation from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery.
