Barry Todd Roos passed away comfortably in his home on the morning of January 8th, 2026, at the age of 59. He was constantly surrounded by loved ones during his final days, and prayers in his final moments helped guide him Home.
Barry was born on August 1st, 1966, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Clyde “Chick” Chilton and the late Lenora “Lee” Roos.
He attended North Side High School and while in high school, worked as a Student Police Officer. He was extremely dedicated to his city and state, working first as a Civilian Dispatcher, then at Wood Youth Center, later with Fort Wayne Police Department, as both a Police Officer and Detective, and finally with INDOT Highway Department.
His loyalty and passion was demonstrated through his love of sports, namely the Chicago Bears, Purdue Boilermakers, Dayton Flyers, Chicago Cubs, and NASCAR. Meanwhile, his “fun” side was exhibited by his many collections and his yearly bus trip to see Jimmy Buffett in concert with his fellow “Parrotheads”. Nevertheless, his kindness and caring nature is what many will remember most about Barry.
Barry is preceded in death by his mother and father, as well as his many beloved pets. He leaves a legacy of love and wonderful memories to the loves of his life, his daughters, Kimberly (Adam) Huth and Lauren (Wesley) Clark, and his granddaughters Addelyn (Clark) and Salem (Huth). He also leaves behind his 5 sisters - Diane (Jon) Havert, Abby Walls, April (Dee) Skinner, Jan Whitaker, and Brenda (Kent) Holse, as well as his uncle Lawrence (Joan) Chilton, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. His dog Marlee and cat Hampton were benevolently adopted by friends of the family.
The funeral service will be at 3 pm on January 18th, 2026, at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana, with visitation two hours prior (1-3 pm).
For those wanting to participate, friends and family are asked to gather at O’ Sullivan's Italian/Irish Pub, 1808 W Main St, Fort Wayne, IN 46808, at 6:00 pm to toast Barry's life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Humane Fort Wayne, Animal Care and Control, or your favorite animal shelter, as Barry was an animal lover and big advocate for rescuing animals in need.
