Bernadette M. "Bernie" Gardiner

Bernadette M. “Bernie” Gardiner, 93, of Fort Wayne passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021. She was born on March 21, 1928 in Fort Wayne, a daughter of the late Basil and Jeanette (Steele) Haifley. She graduated from Central Catholic High School, Fort Wayne. She worked as a homemaker, beautician, and as the receptionist at Glen S. Gardiner D.D.S. Orthodontics. She was a member of the Ladies Dental Aux. and at Orchard Ridge. In her free time, she enjoyed hosting parties and cooking. She was also active in local youth theater and volunteered at a number of different places. Surviving family include her son, Robbie Gardiner; daughters, Linda (Terry) Leis and Kim (Curt) Bangert; granddaughter, Angela (Todd) Sult; three great grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Muriel (Leo) Gregoroff and Rita Haifley; and six grand dogs. Besides her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband, Glen S. Gardiner; and brothers, Joseph and Eugene Haifley. Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Visiting Nurse.
