Betty Jean Martin

Betty Jean Veasey Martin, age 94, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2023, at Lutheran Life Villages of Fort Wayne, IN while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Bessemer, Alabama to the late Wallace and Etholene Veasey on October 23, 1928. Betty married the late Griffin Pierce Martin, her high school sweetheart, on September 1, 1949. She was a life-long member of the Methodist Church. She was a precious and faithful wife to her husband for 71 years and devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her children, Marsha J. (Kirk) Bennett of Fort Wayne, IN; Gríffin P. (Kathy) Martin of Johns Creek, GA; Janet L. Vartanian of Noblesville, IN; 10 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Raymond Vartanian; and 3 siblings.

Celebration of Life service is at 11am, Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Brookside Church, 6102 Evard Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46835, with visitation one hour prior. The graveside service will follow at Highland Park Cemetery.
