Betty Marie McKinney nee Hughes, 82, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017. Born in Stroh, IN, on July 4, 1935 to Bill and Frankie Hughes, Betty was always a "firecracker". She met the love of her life at the age of 14, "Billy", while working at Millers Ice Cream. They were married April 22, 1955. Betty enjoyed genealogy and her doll collection, but what she loved most was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When it came to them, "Mackie" would do anything. Everyone will miss her Sunday dinners and hugs and kisses, not only in person but also included on every card. Surviving are her husband, T. William "Bill" McKinney of Fort Wayne; 3 children, Douglas (Carolyn) McKinney of Fort Wayne, Daniel McKinney of Columbia City, and Dawn (Greg) Newport of Fort Wayne; 3 grandchildren, Karen, Casey, and Cody; and 6 great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and 2 sisters, Helen Martin and Shirley Miller. Per Betty's request, private family services will be held at a later date.
