Brian E. Reed

BRIAN EDWIN REED, 59, of Fort Wayne, passed away after a valiant fight against cancer on Sunday, June 18, 2017, at 4:02 p.m., at Parkview Regional Medical Center surrounded by loved ones. Born July, 16, 1957, in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late Howard and Jeraldine (Clem) Reed. Brian was a graduate of Northrop High School, class of 1975, and attended the business program at Indiana Institute of Technology. He was employed with Phelps Dodge / Indiana Rod & Wire for nine years before being employed with Kroger for 27 years; from which he retired. A simple man of Christian faith, he enjoyed NASCAR, going to the horse track with friends, bowling, cards, computer games, and spending time with his beloved beagle, Brutus. He is survived by his brothers, Dana (Carrie) Reed of Fort Wayne and Jeffrey Reed of Lafayette; sister, Delores August of Fort Wayne; and eight nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his nephew; Dana Reed Jr. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at the funeral home. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.
