Brittany (Butterfield) Mishler, age 53, of Fort Wayne, Indiana abruptly left on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. Born in Evanston, IL, her younger years were spent along the shores of Lake Michigan and in Wilmette, IL. Her engaging smile and boundless energy were always fun to watch as she engaged in her world. New Trier High School, Winnetka, IL, sparked her interest in music and performing arts. All four years she was busy performing as a singer or dancer and even worked crew in most productions.
She attended Purdue University and graduated with a Theater Arts/English degree. While a social worker in northern Indiana, she met her husband, Stephen Mishler, through a mutual friend. Married for 27 years, they made Fort Wayne home. She performed in many plays while a part of First Pres Theater. She taught school until the birth of their son, Cooper, in 2003. When Cooper was 3, she became an engaged, enthusiastic hockey mom. If you had a Chicago Cubs question about the schedule, roster, or trades, you could always ask Brittany. She was so proud of the Cubs World Series win. Her attendance at the Colts Super Bowl win against her hometown Bears was a definite life experience and highlight.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Butterfield, and aunt Anita Closson. Those still holding her memory are husband Stephen Mishler, son Cooper Mishler, sister Braden (Jeremy) McKinley, nephews Matthew, Andrew, Jackson and Lucas McKinley, mother Ann Butterfield and uncle Michael Closson. Her brother in laws Scott, Brian, Brad Mishler and nephews Daniel, Thomas, Jack and nieces Rachelle and Sara.
A constant lover of pets; donations in her memory can be made to Humane Fort Wayne humanefw.org.
A private ceremony is planned.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, February 4, from 12:00-3:00pm at Ceruti's Summit Room 6601 Innovation Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN 46818 (food and refreshments provided).
