Carmalita (Carm) Shafer, age 71, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, Feb 1, 2025. She was born February 20, 1953 in Rushville, Indiana to the late John Finchum and Nancy Finchum (Jackson)
Carm attended New Haven High school, class of 71. She worked for Lincoln Financial group as a New Business Processor and trainer and retired from there after 18 years
Carmalita just celebrated her 18th anniversary of receiving a double lung transplant at Cleveland Clinic in September 2006. She was once an active member of McMillen Park Lions Club and volunteered for many community events. She attended Fellowship Missionary Church and enjoyed her bible study nights and getting together for lunch with her friends and old coworkers. Over the years she enjoyed reading, crafting, gardening, NASCAR, and her dogs.
Carm is survived by her partner James Prowse of New Haven, In; daughter, Amanda Shafer of Ft. Wayne, In: granddaughter Anyla Shafer of Ft. Wayne, In and niece Michelle Koehlinger, of Holiday Florida
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nancy Finchum of Ft. Wayne; brother, John(Melinda) Finchum of Plant City Florida ; sister, Marcena DePrimio of Holiday Florida; sons Justin and Aaron Washmuth of Ft. Wayne
Funeral services, at 1:00 PM, Friday, February 21, 2025 at Fellowship Missionary Church, 2536 E Tillman Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46816 with calling two hours prior.
