Carolyn Weber Hutchinson, 93, passed away June 9, 2025, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was born in Evansville, the daughter of the late Ewald Henry and Clara Mae (Knowles) Weber. Carolyn was the third child in the family and was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald and Ralph Weber. She was also predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Kenneth Hutchinson.
Carolyn’s family moved from Evansville to Cynthiana, Indiana when she was in elementary school. There she learned to play piano, clarinet, drums, and bells in her school band. Later, her family moved back to Evansville, and she attended Bosse High School. It was here that Carolyn started what would become her lifelong passion for art. During her senior year of high school, she started dating Kenneth Hutchinson. They were married in August 1952. Ken and Carolyn later moved to Fort Wayne, where they raised their family and made lifelong friends.
Carolyn’s greatest love in life was her family. She is survived by her sons, Dr. Thomas Lee (Teresa) Hutchinson of Zionsville, IN, and Kenneth Bradley (Karen) Hutchinson of Amherst, NH; grandchildren, Ryan, Robert, Daniel, Sara, and Kevin; and great-grandchildren Beckett, Eliza, Nolan, and Nora. Carolyn was a loving and devoted wife to her husband Ken, and an engaged and supportive mother to her sons. And finally, she dearly loved her four-legged poodle and best friend, Bentley.
After family, Carolyn’s greatest sources of happiness in life were her friends and her love of art. In the late 1950’s Carolyn was a member of a social club known as The Reveliers, performing skits and dances to the music of Glenn Miller. She was an active member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, and The Chapel in Fort Wayne. She was an active member of the PEO organization supporting educational opportunities for women. She treasured her weekly gatherings with her CHaT (Coffee, Humor and Talk) group. Carolyn simply loved spending time with her friends, supporting and praying for them during challenging times and celebrating with them during good times. Carolyn was a skilled artist, painting with both watercolors and oils. Many of her paintings were displayed and sold at art exhibitions.
Carolyn’s warmth, kind heart, and loving smile will be missed by so many.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, in The Towne House Retirement Community Chapel, 2209 St. Joe Center Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46825, with Reverend Wes Reece.
