Carolyn J. Weber Smith

Carolyn Joan Smith, 75, of Ossian passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Lutheran Hospital. Daughter of Helen and Clifford Weber, Carolyn was born at home September 22, 1934 in Fort Wayne. During high school, Carolyn worked as a hat check at the Van Orman Hotel. After graduation from Central Catholic High School in 1952, she briefly worked in the City Clerk’s office on Berry St., U.S. Rubber, and then Fort Wayne Truck Parts from which she retired in 1985 after 30 years of service. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Yoder, IN. Carolyn loved tending her flowers and was a fabulous cook. A true adventurer, she travelled all over the world, including Mexico, Canada, Greece, Germany, Austria, Morocco, New Zealand, Australia and Peru. She loved her annual family camping trips. Carolyn was a member of the Red Hats, Rosary Makers, National Council of Catholic Women, Harvest House, and Rosary Sodality. For the past 11 years, Carolyn volunteered as a Hospitality Host at Fort Wayne International Airport. Most Monday nights would find her playing cards with friends at the Brew Ha in Ossian. She was preceded in death by her husband Al in 1998. She is survived by her daughters, Christine Smith and life partner Katie Dickinson, Cynthia Smith and son-in-law James Brown, all of Fort Wayne, brother Clifford Joseph Weber, Jr. of Long Beach, CA , sister Evangeline A. and brother-in-law Gene Kile of Fort Myers, FL, sister-in-law Gloria M. de Weber of Chino Hills, CA, niece Elena Weber of Chino, CA., grandchildren Phillip (Jeri) Brown, Renee Brown (Brian Passwater), great grandchildren Ashley Brown, Andrea Junk, Randy Junk, all of Ft. Wayne. Viewing will be 2-4 p.m.and 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 5 at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton, 6424 Winchester Rd, with a vigil service at 3:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 14623 Bluffton Rd.,Yoder, IN with prayers at 10:30am at the funeral home. Burial in Catholic Cemetery.
