My daughter was a student at Deer Ridge. Mrs. Walda made a lasting impact not only on her speech but also on her future. She was super friendly and positive. My daughter looked forward to seeing her and she made correcting her speech/stutter fun. My daughter is now a senior in college majoring in speech & hearing science. She is applying to grad school writing her essay about Mrs. Walda.  Our family’s condolences.

I worked with Cherie many years ago at Deer Ridge. She shared her smiles, her laughter, knowledge and kindness to all. 
Her enthusiasm and excitement for working with children was inspirational! 
I always enjoyed collaborating with her and learning something new to practice or implement with the students that we shared on our caseload. 
I don't ever remember a day when I didn't see her smiling. 

She certainly made an impact in the lives of many students.

My condolences to her family. May the memories of the love and joy that you all shared, be your strength for the difficult days ahead.

I have great memories working with Cheri at Arcola Elementary. She always had some great speech therapy tips when we worked together with our students. And years later we saw each other at St. Elizabeth school. I’ll always remember her smile. Very inspiring!

What a wonderful we all had crafting.  Cherie was a wonderful friend who will be in my heart forever.  My sympathy to her family.

What a wonderful picture of Cherie.  It captures her loving, happy spirit.  I will miss her.  She was my friend, and a support during my loss.  My flower garden has so many of her starts, which gives me a beautiful reminder of her every year.  My heart goes out to her loving family.

My sincere condolences to you and your family.  It was always a delight to encounter Cheri’s bright smile and positive attitude on walks through the neighborhood. I will remember Cherie as a gentle and kind person, one who truly cared for all the birds, bees,  plants, animals and people she nurtured in her beautiful garden.  I’ve felt so lucky over the years to have such a great friend and neighbor who shared so many of my passions.  We loved and cared for each other’s dogs for years.  We traded plants and took workshops together.  Cherie loved to put Lego sets together, have a tea party in her garden, count birds, paint rocks, travel, collect memories and share stories about the time she spent with the real treasures of her life – her family.   Well done my friend.  Here is to a life well lived.

I worked with Cherie at SACS as an SLP and owe her a debt of gratitude for inspiring me to enter the profession after observing her at Deer Ridge for a college class.  We bonded over our love of Purdue.  She was a kind and generous colleague who gave 100% to her students.  I think of her whenever I see Hosta plants 🪴

I worked with Cheri as an SLP in SACS and to say that she was adored by the many students she supported and people she worked with is an understatement. Mrs. Walda’s speech room hot chocolate parties were legendary and a hard act to follow! Cheri will be missed and leaves behind many people who will never forget her. 😢😇Pam

Our sympathies!! Cherie has touched so many lives! She was a great gal and I feel so blessed to not only to have worked  with her but to be blessed with her friendship as well!

Cherie and Ted were dear friends. Cherie was a wonderfully nice person and excellent host. She was always cheerful and fun to be around. Our hearts and prayers go out to Ted and daughter Sara at this sad time. We will always cherish the memories of laughter and smiles that Cherie elicited. She was a special person that everyone loved. May her memory be lasting and full of love by all those she touched by word, deed and action. She will be missed and never forgotten.
