Christina Irmiter, 65, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, April 16th, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born and raised in Fort Wayne, Christina built a career that made her a beloved voice in the community. For years, she brought humor and joy to listeners under the name Tina Harris, an on-air personality at 1190 WOWO Radio and Majic 95.1 who became a familiar and trusted presence throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. As her career evolved, she became equally well known as "Traffic Tina Harris," keeping Fort Wayne commuters safe and on schedule with traffic updates across WANE TV, Majic 95.1, and Oldies 101.7.
Beyond the airwaves, Christina dedicated herself to shaping young lives as a gym teacher and track & field coach at Queen of Angels, where her energy and encouragement left a lasting impression on countless students. She played first base while her husband coached her softball team, and the two were inseparable bowling league partners. She was an amazing 'sports mom' cheering on her kids as her husband coached and later in life an equally boisterous and encouraging 'sports grandma.' She was always cheering (and whistling) for her favorite athletes: her kids and grandkids. Christina was a devoted and deeply present wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother (gam gam) Those who knew her, knew of her strength and integrity.
Surviving her are her children: son Grant (Brandy) Irmiter and their sons, Mason and Blake; son Morgan (Kelsey) Irmiter and their daughter Harper and son Maximus; daughter Madelyn (Andrew) Lewis and their daughters, Ione, Elayna, and Maizie all of Fort Wayne; brothers Jerry (Sherri) Gordon, Donald (Judy) Gordon, Dan (Laura) Gordon, and Joe Gordon; sisters Sylvia (Steven) Peck and Sheila Gordon; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; 35 nieces and nephews, and 32 great-nieces and nephews. Tina was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 27 years, Matthew Irmiter; sisters Suzie and Rose Gordon; sister-in-law Claire Gordon; and niece Sarah Gordon.
