Dan F. Nichols

Danny Frederick Nichols, 90, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at home with family. He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on October 8, 1933, the son of the late Charles Lowell and Audrey K. (Stickley) Nichols. Dan graduated from North Side High School and was drafted in the army at age 19. With the help of the G.I. Bill, he earned a degree in Business Management from Indiana University. After several years as a salesman for Cities Service Oil Company and Mead Johnson Pharmaceuticals, he transitioned to teaching by earning a Master's Degree in Education from The University of Saint Francis. Some of his major joys were experienced in his 29 years of retirement as he rebuilt two Chris Craft wooden boats, worked with his hands on many other projects and traveled. Dan is survived by his wife of 46 years, Diane; son, Dale Nichols; daughter, Cindy (Brent) Shike; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Trinity English Lutheran Church, 450 West Washington Boulevard, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46802. Contributions in Dan's memory may be made to Trinty English Lutheran Church or Stillwater Hospice.
