DAVID “DAVE” ALVIN VACHON, 62, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021 at his home. A lifelong resident of Fort Wayne, Dave was a valued employee at Scott’s Food Store on North Clinton Street, where he was the manager of the dairy department. Dave also made significant contributions as an employee with CNC Industries Inc. and Ground Effects, where he was employed at the time of his death. Dave was a graduate of Harding High School. Dave was a very easy-going individual who valued life and family. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, backgammon, and a spirited round of Euchre. He was an avid lover of classic rock and classic country music and especially enjoyed John Mellencamp concerts. Dave looked forward to reading the Fort Wayne newspaper every day and was consequently an invaluable source of information on local events and history. Surviving are his nine siblings; Kathy (Joe) Peters, Tim (Steff) Vachon, Kevin (Laurie) Vachon, Tom (Angie) Vachon, Karen (Larry) Castleman, John Vachon, Julie (John) Ashbaugh, Matthew (Bobbie) Vachon, and Mark (Shelli) Vachon; 20 nieces and nephews; five great nieces and nephews; and his companion for many years, Patty Jo Wilson. His parents, Alvin and Rosemary Vachon, preceded Dave in death. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00am on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 14623 Bluffton Rd., Yoder, Ind. Msgr. Bruce Piechecki officiating. Visitation is 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Advantage Mungovan, 2114 S. Calhoun St., Fort Wayne, with a Rosary Service beginning at 3:30pm.
