Dimitrios “Jim” Sarakinis, 77, passed on Saturday, May 8, 2021, surrounded by his family. Born on September 23, 1943 in Florina, Greece, he was the son of the late Pantelis and Ioanna (Efthimiou) Sarakinis. Jim immigrated to Fort Wayne in 1970, after living in Canada for four years. He worked for Zollner Pistons and retired after 35 years. Jim is survived by his wife Marika of 51 years; daughter, Stephanie (Eddie) York of Fort Wayne; son, Pantelis Sarakinis of Fort Worth; granddaughters, Sophia, Christina, and Anna York; brothers, Ted (Phany) Sarakinis of Windsor, Canada, George (Yianovefa) Saraknis and Tony (Theodora) Sarakinis of Florina, Greece; brothers-in-law Anastasios (Joanne) Pentsos of Toledo, Ohio and Chris (Dina) Pentsos of Fort Wayne; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 11 a.m. Friday, May 14, 2021 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, East Wallen Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46825. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Holy Trinity, with Trisagion service beginning at 7 p.m. Burial at Highland Park Cemetery, 2403 East Wallen Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46825.
