

DONALD JAMES LIVENGOOD, 88, went with the peace of Christ to his eternal reward on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014. He was a man of faith in Jesus Christ with dedication to his wife, family, friends, and his church. Born Dec. 27, 1925, in Fulton, Ind., he was a son of Reverend Melvin and Bertha Livengood, he married his Fort Wayne South Side High School sweetheart, Marjorie Ann (Pressler) Livengood on May 24, 1946. Following graduation from high school, Don enlisted in the Army Air Corps, stationed in Lubbock, Texas during World War II. After service to his country and honorable discharge, he served as the pastor of churches in Lebanon and Union Chapel, Ind. while studying at Manchester College in North Manchester, where he received a B.A. degree. Subsequently, he studied education at Indiana Statue University where he received his M.A degree. Don taught six years at Bremen Junior High School, Bremen, Ind., and 27 years at Northwood Middle School, Fort Wayne. During his years of teaching, he was well-known by his students for his creative techniques of holding their attention and for his leading of various science clubs. In church, he was known for his involvement in the life of the church, serving in many roles during his lifetime. Among his family and friends, he was known as a man of morality, integrity, faithfulness, and love. He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Marge; three faithful children, Dr. James (Kathryn) Livengood of Zionsville, Ind., Reverend Gary (Carol) Livengood of New Haven and Greg (Ann) Livengood of Fort Wayne; sister, Crystal Clear of South Bend; and eight grandchildren, Jyri and Tatyana Livengood of Zionsville, Christopher and Joel Livengood, both of New Haven, Sara and Shannon Livengood, both of Fort Wayne, Amy Weir of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Lisa Rigg of Torrance, Calif. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday, with visiting one hour prior, at First Missionary Church, 701 W. Rudisill Blvd. (where Don was an active member).
