Donald graduated from Hammond High School and went on to get his degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University. He was a member of Phi Eta Sigma Fraternity and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He worked his entire career as an engineer and held several radio certifications. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and skiing.
He married Noreen (Berta) Shoop on August 30, 1969, and is survived by her as well as their children Jefferey (Chase) Shoop of Brantford, Ontario, Canada, Kevin (Amanda) Shoop of Greenfield, IN, and Emily Shoop of Fort Wayne, IN, and grandchildren Andrew, Richard, Jackie, and Ariyah. He is also survived by his sister Dian and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Shoop, and brother Richard Shoop.
A service in his memory will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021, at 6 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 8540 East 16th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46219. Friends and family may call at 5 pm. Donations in his memory may be made to the church.
