

Doris Jean (Cook) Davenport was born on March 20, 1948, in Marion, Alabama. She was the “middle child” of Richard C. Cook and Emma L. Cook. With older sister Mary Ann Walker, (all preceding her in death), and “Lil Bro” Richard C. (Regina) Cook II of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Doris graduated from Lincoln High School on May 26, 1966, and shortly thereafter migrated to Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She began her working career at the Fort Wayne State School in March of 1968 and ended it at Parker Hannifin in 2001. She believed in working hard and passed her dedicated work ethic on to her children and grandchildren.
Doris was previously married to Perry L. (Barbara) Davenport and through that union had two children; Jerrell L. Davenport of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Shalonda N. Greene of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Doris was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ from an early age. With past memberships at Bethel Baptist Church (Marion, Alabama) and Pilgrim Baptist Church (Fort Wayne, Indiana). With current membership at Light Of the World Christian Church, under the leadership of Pastor Cornelius Hill.
Doris loved to spend time with her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling with her family, participating in family events, any and everything her grandkids had going on! She also enjoyed mall walking with her partner in crime, (Margaret Ann Freeman), attending and singing at church, watching her “stories”, game shows, Hallmark and QVC shopping network (she should own stock in QVC!).
She leaves to cherish so many amazing memories; her two children: Jerrell L. (Elethia) Davenport and Shalonda N. (Patrick) Greene; eight grandchildren: Dr. Anthony D. Turner, Channing J. Davenport, Jairius J. (Shekinah) Davenport, Devon A. Greene, Daylen A. Greene, Javius J. Davenport, Javion J. Davenport, and Damiah J. Greene; one great-grandchild: Christina Linh Tran Turner and one on the way!(Jairius and Shekinah); one brother: Richard C. (Regina) Cook II; a brother-in-law: Thomas (Melinda) Davenport; two sisters-in-law: Sheila Mae Morgan and Luvenia Davenport, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Doris leaves a void that can never be filled, but anyone whose life she touched was blessed beyond measure!
