Dorothea M Racine McDonald

Dorothea Mary McDonald of Fort Wayne passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Nov. 3, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Oct. 30, 1917 in Fort Wayne. She was the daughter of the late August J.H. and Eva M. (McMaKen) Racine. After her graduation from North Side High School in 1936, she worked as Deputy Treasurer of Allen County. On July 16, 1939, she married George C. McDonald and lived in Laud, Indiana. In 1952, they moved to Fort Wayne where they raised their five children in Indian Village. In 1964, Dorothea became one of the first women real estate agents in Fort Wayne. She was a broker and served on the Board of Realtors. She was a member of P.E.O. Sisterhood and Trinity English Lutheran Church. She was active in many Euchre and Bridge clubs. Surviving are her husband, George C. McDonald, her five children, Larry (Juliet) McDonald of Fort Wayne, Steven (Lu) McDonald of Bloomington, Ind., Janet (David) Eggiman of Fort Wayne, Joann McDonald of San Diego, Cal., and John McDonald of Fort Wayne, six grandchildren, Doug (Amy) Raskosky of Chicago, Lisa (Dan) Byanski of Fort Wayne, Eric Eggiman of Fort Wayne, Elizabeth Eggiman of Fort Wayne, Kristy McDonald of Fort Wayne, and Ryan (Tracy) Burke of Indianapolis, and six great-grand children. She was preceded in death by her five brothers, Wayne, Richard, Myron, Byron, and Donald Racine.
Services 11:00 am Saturday at Trinity English Lutheran Church, with visitation 1 hr prior to services. Visitation also Friday 5-8 at Klaehn, Fahl and Melton F.H. Wayne St. Chapel. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Preferred Memorials to The P.E.O. Sisterhood Education Fund Checks payable to Chapter AB.
