Dorothy Jane Olry, born on January 13, 1930, in Auburn, Indiana, passed away on November 5, 2025, at the age of 95. She was a resident of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin Eugene and Mildred Irene Walters.
Dorothy’s entire family was most important to her. She was famous for her sugar cookies and strawberry jam. She enjoyed baking and gardening. You would never leave her home hungry; she always had the best food. Dorothy worked until she was 81 and truly enjoyed working at Fort Wayne Community Schools in the food service.
She is survived by her children, Linda (Harold) Ware, Jim (Judy) Degitz, Dan (Kathy) Degitz, Steven (Jan) Degitz, Phil (Holly) Degitz; stepchildren, Robert (Joy) Olry, Nancy (Robert) Loftus, Diane (Bob) Kratzert, Cheryl (Kenneth) Gephart; siblings, Dave (Ruth) Walters, Ruth Lyon, Judy Osbun and Nila (Skip) Zellers; 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; numerous, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Steve Hyndman.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Eugene Degitz; a daughter, Kathleen Hyndman; her second husband, Howard Francis Olry; a grandson, Bradley Ware; siblings, Bob (Janice) Walters, Donald (Wilma) Walters, Kenneth (Phyllis) Walters and Maxine (Bruce) Teller; and brothers-in-law, Paul Lyon, and Clyde Osbun.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1502 East Wallen Road, with calling one hour prior. Visitation will also be held at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home, on Monday, November 10, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne.
