Edith “Romaine” (King) Shipley, affectionately named, Tootsie, by her family, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024. She was born on March 19, 1928 in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Eston Burl and Mae Marie (Long) King. She worked as a Kindergarten Aide for over 30 years for Fort Wayne Community Schools. She was a member at Trier Ridge Community Church, Fort Wayne. Her church and her church family were very important to her. She will be remembered for her love of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving family include her sister, Sara Shumar; daughter-in-law, Cindy (Robert) Prible; grandson, Brandon Shipley; granddaughter, Jamie (Cameron) Brower; great-grandchildren, Kallen Eston Shipley, Lincoln Joseph Shipley, and Evelyn James Brower; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Shipley; son, Marty Eston Shipley; and sisters, Genevieve Snyder, Roberta Clark, and Lida Dunn. A private family graveside service will be held at a later time. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.
