Esther Marlene Matthews, age 85, of Fort Wayne, Ind. passed away on Tuesday, November 1. She was born June 8, 1937 in Nelsonville, Ohio to the late Lawrence and Stella (née Simonton) Wycuff. She married the late James Robert Matthews on Easter Sunday,1956 at First Presbyterian Church in Nelsonville, Ohio. Esther is the mother of Carolyn (Alan) Marlene Bell and James (Maureen Evelyn (Molly) McCarthy) Robert Matthews II; grandchildren, David Slade (Catherine) Bell, Esther (Eduardo) Marlene Zaragoza, James Thomas Matthews and Mary Clare Matthews; siblings, Wilma Jean Blair, Carolyn Kay Barron, Darl (Nedra) Wycuff, and Harold Wycuff. She was predeceased by her parents Lawrence and Stella (nee Simonton) Wycuff; siblings, Edward Wycuff, Helen (Jim) Holdren, Mary (Bob) Jennings; and brother-in-law, Gary Barron. Funeral Service is 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 9 at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services – Highland Park, 2403 E. Wallen Road, Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior.
