Eugene Gates

Eugene Gates, 65, born on October 23, 1955, in Greensboro, Alabama, passed away peacefully in his home on February 2, 2021. Eugene will be remembered for his contagious smile, unique nicknames for everyone, and sense of humor. He leaves behind his children, Tiffany Gates; TiJaun (Lacey) Gates; Temarcus (Machelle) Gates; Jennifer (Tiffany) Hakey; Brittany Shears; Mandy Sheckles; and 16 granddaughters and 7 grandsons. He is also survived by his siblings, Willie James (Minnie) Gates; Howard (Lara Ann) Lee; Shirley (Tyrone) Moore; Betty Gates; Carolyn (Timothy) Gray; Flora (Carl) Rile; sister-in-law Ruby Poole; and brother-in-law Marvin Smith Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Sarah Gates; his sister, Willie Nell Smith; his brother Walter Gates Sr.; and a grandson, Carter Sheckles. Funeral Service is 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Advantage-Mungovan, 2114 South Calhoun Street, Fort Wayne, with calling two hours prior.
