George E. Alatza, 95, devoted husband and loving father, peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 23 2021 at his home of 65 years surrounded by family. Born October 31, 1925 in Anderson Indiana, he was the son of Elias P. and Mildred Eva Alatza. He was blessed at an early age with the understanding of where his creative path would lead him. Upon graduation from Anderson High School in 1943 he received a scholarship to the Fort Wayne Art School. Soon after service in the Army Air Corps, he attended the Cincinnati Academy of Art in 1946, the American Academy of Art Chicago 1947-50, and was an instructor at the New Orleans Academy of Art from 1950-52. He returned to Indiana with his wife, Judith, after the birth of their first of four children, to work with an Indianapolis advertising agency. As his family grew, so did the opportunities. Finally making his home in Fort Wayne, George worked for the next 40 years in the color card printing industry as a commercial artist / designer for General Printing Co, which would later become Colwell General. During those years, he was an active member of Color Marketing Group. George and Judith were active members of Trinity Episcopal Church Fort Wayne. He had an ever present desire to be of service to his community, church family, and friends by freely giving of his time and talents. George enjoyed doing puzzles. He was an enviable calligrapher. He loved the classic styles of music and movies, was an avid photographer, and was a proficient wordsmith. His natural curiosity kept him in lifelong pursuit to understand the puzzle of his Greek heritage by piecing together the origin and meaning of his history /Alatza.
