Gertrude May (Bauer, Snider) Meyer, 93, of Fort Wayne, Ind., passed away on January 2, 2026, at Coventry Meadows Assisted Living. She was born on January 17, 1932, a daughter of the late Ovid and Beulah (Miller) Bauer.
Gertrude was born in rural Allen County and attended Huntertown High School until 1951. Gertrude was a devoted homemaker for twenty-one years and later worked at Rogers' Market, where she retired after eighteen years of dedicated service. She had a passion for sewing, playing cards, flowers, gardens, reading, and family gatherings.
Gertrude is survived by her children, Cheryl A. (Robert) Schultz, Dennis Snider, Lisa (Frank) Hake, Matthew Meyer, all of Fort Wayne, and Laura (Dan) Black of Kunkle, Ohio; her siblings, Evelyn Gilliam of Lexington, Ky., Agnes Huddleston, Richard Bauer, and Paul Bauer, all of Fort Wayne; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; and fifteen great-great-grandchildren.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, Ovid and Beulah Bauer; her brothers, John Bauer, Donald Bauer, Clarence Bauer, and Harold Bauer; her son, Lee Snider; her grandchildren, Christopher, Mark, Jeff, and Sara; and her children's fathers, Manford Snider and Robert Meyer.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on January 12, 2026, at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Lakeside Park, with calling two hours prior. Interment at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions in Gertrude's name may be directed to Alzheimer's Association Greater Indiana Chapter or Humane Fort Wayne.
