Gloria J. Garver, 73, of Fort Wayne, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2021. Born on October 11, 1947 in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Dorothy (Peiffer) Stoops. Gloria retired from GE in 2004 after 25 years of service. Gloria is survived by her sons, Michael (Nicci) and Seth Garver; grandchildren, Veronika (Aaron) Miller, Vanessa Blasco, William and Ashton Garver, and Emma Garver; and great-grandchildren, Ava and Aria Miller. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Garver.
Simply put, Gloria was a firecracker who lit up every room she walked in to. Her heart was big and she loved fiercely. Her passions included long days at the lake, her beloved cats and dogs (there were many), and of course her family. One of her favorite roles was that of “GG” (great-grandma or Gloria Garver, she claimed both) and the Wednesday nights she would spend with her great-granddaughters. Gloria was an open-book who wore her heart on her sleeve. She loved to make new friends and get into mischief as much as possible (ask about the famous night at Four D’s Bar and Grill). She also enjoyed spinning tales of her childhood in rural PA, adventures in DC where she met her husband Tom, and their time together in Florida and then eventually Fort Wayne. No matter where she was or who she was with, GG knew how to have a good time. Wherever she is now, you can be sure she has a Pepsi in one hand and a smoke in the other, filling the room with her joyful and infectious laughter.
A service will be held Friday, July 16, 2021 at 2PM at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, with calling two hours prior. Memorial donations may be made to Humane Fort Wayne or Save The Children. Visit www.mccombandsons.com for online condolences.
