

Gordon C. Emrick, 89, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025. He was born March 21, 1935 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, son of the late Glenn C. and Florence F. (Depue) Emrick. Gordon was a U. S. Army Veteran and worked as a painter for the Fort Wayne Parks Department. Gordon was born in the house he grew up in on McArthur Drive in Waynedale and was proud to have served his Country in Korea from 1957 to 1959. He enjoyed his family, many friends, hunting, fishing, playing euchre, honky tonk music, dancing and teasing those he loved. He had been a member of the Eagles in Columbia City and the VFW Post 1421. Gordon always believed there is a Lord and Savior and at the young age of 86 he proclaimed his faith through his baptism and regular attendance at Oak Grove Church of God. He was blessed by many new friendships, especially with Pastor Steve and Dennis Fenker. Surviving are his children, Cheryl Pagan of San Francisco, CA, Gregory (Laura) Emrick of Columbia City, IN, Jeffery (Michelle) Emrick of Columbia City, IN, and Heather (Allan) Young of San Francisco, CA; and grandchildren, Joshua Emrick, Jacob Emrick, and Lynn Emrick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen (Grogg) Emrick in 2010; son, Brian Emrick; grandson, Glenn Emrick; and sisters, Sharon Carrol, Barbara Hoffman, Phyllis LaValle, and Gail Baker. Funeral services will be Friday, January 10, 2025 at 10:00 am at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46809 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation for Gordon will also be held Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fair View Cemetery, Bluffton, IN.
