The family moved to Ft. Wayne, Indiana where Greg attended Harding High School. While there he competitively wrestled, played hockey, football, and forged friendships that would last the rest of his life. After High School he met and later married his wife, Phyllis, to whom he was married until death. They shared two sons, Scott and Randy.
Greg was a faithful and dutiful husband, as well as a present and active father. He coached soccer, T- Ball, endured brutally early mornings for swim and hockey practice, and was his son’s biggest cheerleader.
Greg began his working career as a Union Carpenter in Local 232. He proudly retired as a Union Millwright from Local 1029 over 40 years later. Greg was highly respected by his peers and fellow tradesman. He enjoyed mentoring Apprentices, sharing the knowledge of his craft, and being a positive example for those in the Trades.
When he wasn't participating with his son’s sports, or being active within his Union's leadership, Greg enjoyed circle track racing, piloting his own street stock and late model race cars.
Post- retirement Greg remained active. He could often be found visiting with his fellow retirees at the Eagles, traveling to regional racetracks with his wife and travel trailer, or helping a friend or neighbor with a needed repair or project. He enjoyed having the right tool for the job.
Greg is preceded in death by his parents, Gary and Vrina Stebbins.
He is survived by his Wife of 44 years, Phyllis Stebbins and sons Scott (Carrie) Stebbins and Randy (Becky) Grimes, and granddaughter, Penelope.
