

James “Jim” Edgar Bailey, 77, passed away on February 8, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Born on July 15, 1947, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, he was the son of the late Edgar L. and Muriel Bailey. Jim graduated from Saline High School in 1965 and built a fulfilling life marked by passion and dedication.
Together with his late wife, Marcia Lee Tressler, Jim was a co-owner of Jim Bailey's Ft. Wayne Harley Davidson. His entrepreneurial spirit, kindness, and dedication to customers and friends made the dealership a beloved part of the community. Prior to his work in the motorcycle industry, Jim excelled at numerous careers and endeavors including being a police officer, a banker, and loan collector for the University of Michigan.
A man of many passions and talents, Jim was also a gifted musician. He performed with several groups, including the “Saline Big Band” and “Whit’s End,” bringing joy to many through his artistry. An avid car and motorcycle enthusiast, Jim collected hundreds of vehicles throughout his life, with a particular fondness for Cadillacs, Harleys, and Corvettes.
Jim’s legendary storytelling captivated friends and family alike. While some tales may have seemed larger than life, his prolific photography often provided visual proof of his incredible adventures. Many of these stories and images are chronicled in his book, “My Life in Cars,” each chapter showcasing another layer of his vibrant personality.
He is survived by his son, Aaron Lee (Christine) Bailey of Ann Arbor, Michigan; his twin brother, John (Monica) Bailey; and his sister, Jeanne Bailey Hess. He also leaves behind his nephews Geoff, Michael, Timothy, Brian, and Eric, niece Cindy, grandson Noah, and a host of other nieces, nephews, and family friends who held a special place in his heart.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marcia Lee Tressler, who passed away on December 20, 2024, his sister Judith Kruger, and his nephew Christopher.
Jim Bailey was a man who lived life to the fullest. His spirit, kindness, and stories will forever remain in our hearts.
