

James “Jim” Wesley Brown, 87, passed away at home on Sunday, May 18th, 2025. He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on May 11, 1938 to Elmer Wesley and Ruth Marie Brown. Jim was a 1956 graduate of Southside High School, a veteran of the Army National Guard and a graduate of International Business College, where he earned a degree in Accounting. Jim loved working with people far more than numbers, and for more than 50 years, he worked in various roles in local grocery service, starting at Rogers Markets, making friends with every customer he served. Jim was an avid sports fan, following Indiana Hoosiers, the Indianapolis Colts, the Detroit Lions and Tigers with joy throughout his life. Jim was known for his sense of humor, his no-nonsense approach to life, and his kind and compassionate spirit. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a doting grandpa.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jeanine Carol (Keirns) of Fort Wayne, Indiana; children, Thomas C. (Tonya) Ice, Jr of Fort Wayne and Tiffany (Chris) Shepherd of Citrus Heights, California; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sister, Louise (Terry) Hoff of Noblesville, Indiana; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him greatly.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46809, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation for Jim will also be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made in Jim’s name to the Wounded Warriors Project.
