

He was born January 9, 1943 in Auburn, Indiana, a son of the late Glen Cleon Wilber and Helen (nee Antrup) Myers.
He graduated from Fremont High School and attended Tri State. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1961 and was honorably discharged in 1966 after serving on the USS Albany. James worked as an electrical engineer for many years at Raytheon Company and retired in 2002. He loved woodworking.
He is survived by his son, Michael (Sharon) Wilber and daughter, Michele (Rodney) Ware; a brother, Glenn Wilber, half-brother, DeWayne Myers and half-sister, Sharon Bowden; three granddaughters, Brittany, Brooke and Bailey Wilber; and other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Sue Wilber, and sister, Deanna Wilber.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Home — Pine Valley, 1320 E. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, 46825, with visitation one hour prior at the funeral home. Visitation also at the funeral home Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, from 2-4 p.m. and 5-7 p.m.
He will be laid to rest in Avilla Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers preferred memorials are to LaOtto Fire Department.
