Jamile "Jamie" Octave Mazakis

Jamie is well known for her shop at State & Beacon Plaza, Jamie's Alterations. She worked in alterations, seamstressing, and fashion throughout her life. She was well known and beloved by her customers for her excellent work and keen sense of style.

Jamie was born on September 20, 1938 in Beirut, Lebanon to Labiba and Salim Azzam. She came to the US in the late 1980s, and in the 2000s she obtained her US citizenship. Jamie is survived by daughter Diana Mazakis, son Jamil Mazakis, granddaughters Christina Heins and Tana Neumeier, grandson Juston Stewart, and great grandsons Leon and Wyatt. Jamie was preceded in death by husband Octave Mazakis and daughter Susan Stewart.
