Jane Emrick Carmer, 94, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024. The daughter of Roy and Mildred Emrick, she was born and raised in Fort Wayne. Jane touched the lives of many with her witt, competitive spirit and unwavering dedication to those she loved. In addition to her role as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt, Jane was an accomplished bowler, leaving her mark on the local bowling community. Jane’s passion for bowling brought her joy and camaraderie, and she cherished the friendships she formed on the lanes. Jane’s passion for life extended to her love of nature and woodworking. She found solace in the beauty of the world around her and took great joy in sharing that beauty with others. Whether she was feeding the birds, gardening, or building this year’s Christmas basket, Jane’s appreciation for the simple pleasures in life was infectious. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Carmer; and her sister, Ruth Madru. Surviving are her sons, Mike (Rose) Carmer of Fremont, Indiana and Jim (Jess Lockfeld) Carmer of Denver, Colorado; her grandchildren, Hailey Carmer (Jeff) LaMaster of Auburn, Indiana, Jillian (Ryan) Weber of Auburn, Indiana, Amanda (Steven) Rainey of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Andrew (Jeana) Carmer of Denver, Colorado, and seven great-grandchildren, Greyson Weber, Whitney Rainey, Caden Weber, Elliot Carmer, May Rainey, Harrison Weber, and Adrian Carmer. Also surviving are her beloved nieces and nephews that were so dear to her heart. Jane will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known her. A memorial service to celebrate Jane’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, April 19, 2024 at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Carmer Family Fund which was created in her memory at the Community Foundation Dekalb County, 700 South Main Street, Auburn, Indiana 46706. Though she may be gone from our sight, Jane’s spirit will continue to shine brightly; illuminating the lives of those she touched forevermore.
