

Jane Carol (Jones) Thomas, 88, of Fort Wayne passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021. She was born on December 19, 1932 in Fort Wayne, a daughter of the late James H. and Verba (Parsons) Jones. She attended South Wayne and Harrison Hill Elementary Schools. She was a 1951 graduate of South Side High School. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in 1955 from Bowling Green State University and her Master’s Degree from St. Francis College in 1965. She began her career as an elementary school teacher at Fort Wayne Community Schools, then at schools in central Indiana and California, finally retiring from Northwest Allen County Schools. She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ, P.E.O., and Alpha Xi Delta. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, reading, and playing Bridge. Surviving family include her children, Gregory Allen (Amanda) Thomas, Nancy Joann (Jonathan) Cook, and Brad Allen (Heidi) Thomas; grandchildren, Austin (Meghann) Voigt, Dylan Thomas, Marylynne Thomas, Wallace Thomas, and Thomas Cook; great grandchildren, Brynlee and Hadlee Jane Voigt; sister-in-law, Janice (Jan) Thomas Roskam; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Allen Thomas; and siblings, Elizabeth J. Cochran, James P. Jones, and Byron Thomas Jones. Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at D.O. McComb and Sons – Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne with a gathering of friends and family beginning at noon. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals For Children.
