Janet K. Boone, 81 passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022. Born November 1, 1941 in Mishawaka, Indiana, daughter of the late Walter E. and Marjorie B. Kollar. Janet graduated from Bethel College with a teaching degree while being married to Larry E. Boone and having a baby girl, Sheila Jan. She worked at the Library and Urban Renewal as well in those years. She divorced and moved Sheila to Fort Wayne in 1970 where she began teaching at Harrison Hill Elementary School and was the Manager of Hickory Creek Apartments. She worked both jobs and got her Master of Education degree at St. Francis University. She was beloved by her students who always considered her the prettiest, most fashionable and nicest teacher ever. She retired after 35 years and her creative side took over. She handmade cards and baby blankets for Pathway Community Church for many years and knit wonderful gifts for her family. She loved being a grandma to Kristen, Griffin, Kreigh and Callahan entertaining them on car rides with her "Grandma bag" filled with construction paper and crayons. She especially loved traveling with the family to Sanibel/Captiva and attended every one of Callahan's golf tournaments and Kreigh's horse shows. She is survived by her daughter, Sheila (Dean) Elzey; grandchildren, Kreigh, Callahan, Kristen and Griffin (Tenneal) Elzey; and her great grandson, Atlas Cromwell Elzey. Janet was also preceded in death by her sister, Barbara C. Mumby. There will be a private family ceremony at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to Pathway Community Church 1206 E. Dupont Road Fort Wayne, Indiana 46825.
