Jo Ann Vining

Jo Ann Vining, 89, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020 at Kingston Care in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born in D'Hanis, TX to the late Orson S. and Mary (Taylor) Secrist. She married Carl Dee Vining on October 9, 1949 and he preceded her in death on July 10, 1999. Jo Ann was an Admitting Supervisor at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN for 25 years, retiring in 1996. Prior to working at Parkview Hospital, she volunteered in admitting for several years. She was also a volunteer at the American Red Cross. Jo Ann was a member of St. Joseph United Methodist Church, where she helped organize funeral dinners and led bible study. She was also a member of the Fort Wayne Chapter #432 of Eastern Star, and belonged to the Homeowner's Association. Jo Ann is survived by her children, David (Jody) Vining and Douglas (Sarina) Vining; grandchildren, Alyssa Vining and Shane Vining; and great-granddaughter, Aria Owens. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Orson Jr., James, and Robert Secrist; and great-grandson, Aaren Owens. Funeral service 1:00pm Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home with visitation from 11:00am to 1:00pm prior to the service. Eastern Star service at 12:30pm on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Fort Wayne Chapter #432 of Eastern Star.
