Joan Ruth Sutton, 87, of Fort Wayne, stepped into the presence of our Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Storypoint Senior Community. She bravely fought her battle with Alzheimer’s for the past 10 years. Joan was born July 30, 1933, in Marion, Indiana. She graduated from Swayzee High School in 1951. She lived in Fort Wayne for the past 25 years. Joan regularly attended First Baptist Church in New Haven. She was a homemaker and then a secretary for several years. Joan was a country girl having lived on the farm and Bob often took her on rides through the local countryside to see the farms and she loved seeing the horses. She enjoyed bowling, euchre, and spending time near the water. She and Bob traveled to Spain, Hawaii, and Alaska. They looked forward to their annual trips to the beaches in South Carolina and Florida. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Surviving are her husband, Robert A. Sutton; son, Michael (Cris) Floyd; daughter, Teresa (Jan) Walters; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister. Memorial service is 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at First Baptist Church New Haven, 1716 Werling Road, New Haven, with visitation one hour prior.
