

John "Pig" Harold Davis, a hard-working and dedicated individual, entered into rest on January 10, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on December 10, 1939, in Clanton, Alabama, John was the beloved son of Marie (Bell) Bridges and the late Reverend James Russell Davis. He passed away at Majestic Care Nursing Home in New Haven, IN.
In 1947, John moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he attended Central High School. He accepted Christ at an early age at Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend John Dixie. After graduating high school, John joined the US Army Reserves, where he served as a Drill Sergeant for eight years, a First Sergeant for eighteen years, and finally as a Command Sergeant Major for two years.
John was employed by BF Goodrich Tire Company for 29 years and Slater Steel Corporation for 13 years. After retiring, he worked part-time for Easter Seals Ark for another six years as a Material Handler and recreational activities instructor, where he was beloved by clients and staff alike.
In his personal life, John enjoyed running, marathons, photography, bowling, biking, and watching westerns, but most of all, he loved playing tennis. He especially cherished spending time with family and friends.
John leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Margarette Davis of Fort Wayne, IN; sons, Ernie (Margaret) Davis, Floyd (Sheila) Davis, Mike (Decarla) Davis, Glenn Davis, Terry (Betty) Davis, all of Fort Wayne, IN, Tony (Christie) Davis of Fort Worth, TX, and Eric (Vanessa) Cochran of Indianapolis, IN; daughters, Anita (Detrick) Eley, Frankie Cochran of Indianapolis, IN, and Trina Davis of Fort Wayne, IN. He is also survived by too many grand and great-grandchildren to count, and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend James Russell Davis and Marie Bell Bridges; brother, James Hershall Davis; sons, Joseph T. Cochran, and Wesley M. Cochran; grandson, Spc. Shavonte Dontrell Fields; and great-granddaughter, Kaliah Dickens.
Visitation will be held on January 24, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Pine Valley, located at 1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46825. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the same location. The committal service will take place at Highland Park Cemetery, 2403 East Wallen Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46825.
Pallbearers will be Ernie Davis, Glenn Davis, Mike Davis, Terry Davis, Tony Davis, Floyd Davis, and Tyree Carr. Friends and family will serve as flower bearers.
