John R. “Jack” Scoby, 88, of rural Yoder, passed away Monday, February 29, 2016. He was born on December 27, 1927 in Roanoke to the late Orville Edwin and Zola Rose (Schnitz) Scoby. He worked at International Harvester and Brooks Construction Co. He was a long time member of Christ’s United Methodist Church and Ageless Iron Tractor Club, both in Roanoke. Surviving family include his wife of 63 years, Wilma Scoby; son, David (Donita Consbruck) Scoby; daughter-in-law, Diana (Randy) Fry; grandchildren, Jamie, Joshua, and Sara; and many great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in passing by his son, Bill Scoby. Funeral service will be 10:30 am on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne with viewing one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Friday, March 4, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke. Memorials may be made to Christ’s United Methodist Church or donor’s choice.
