

John M. Steinbeck, 88, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Advent Health in Orlando, FL. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, to the late Frank and Rebecca (Armstrong) Steinbeck.
John served honorably in the United States Army and worked as a field director for Cincinnati Insurance Company. He married Diane L. Myers who preceded him in death on March 5, 2018. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Boston University in 1954 and went back to college at the age of 73 and obtained an Associate of Applied Science degree as a medical assistant from Harrison College in 2009. He was a certified medical assistant and volunteered at Matthew 25 for seven years. John was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Ft. Wayne. He was also a member of American Legion Post 0409 in Leo and was a Mason at Concord Lodge No. 556 in Spencerville. He enjoyed traveling the world with his loving wife and spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Surviving are his son, Thomas and wife Deidre Steinbeck; grandchildren, Jessica, Jake and Nick. John was also preceded in death by his brother Frank; and sister, Margaret.
Visitation will be held at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Funeral Home (1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne), on Friday, February 19, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 10:30 am at Messiah Lutheran Church (7211 Stellhorn Road, Fort Wayne), with visitation one hour prior. Rev. Timothy Graham officiating. Burial in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in John's honor may be made to the American Legion, or Messiah Lutheran Church.
