John L Walter II, 62, of New Haven, went home to his Heavenly Father on September 21, 2020. Born on January 28, 1958, in East St Louis, Illinois, he was a son of the late John and Mildred (Kennedy) Walter. He proudly served his country in the Army, and retired in February of this year, from IvyTech, after 33 years of service as a professor. Education was of primary importance to John throughout his life. He was a graduate of IvyTech, Indiana Wesleyan, and Ball State University.
John lived his life with intention, and loved the life he created with his wife Brenda. They enjoyed 35 years together. He built a family that included six children: Summer (Dave) Wilhelm, John L. Walter III, Stephanie Walter, Gina (Kevin) Yonkman, Nicole (Jeff) Smith, and Travis (Laura Kelley) Weaver, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters Karen Dean and Judy Bolen. He was also blessed with a bonus family of Justin and Heather Sierra and their children: Cody (Allison), Alayna (Connor), Teagen, and Leah. He also leaves behind his best buddy, Charlie, his three-year-old canine companion. He was also preceded in death by his sister Donna Alger ; as well as his brother Jerry Walter.
Due to COVID concerns, there will be no services. Memorial donations may be made to John L. Walter Machine Tool Scholarship Fund at IvyTech. Arrangements have been entrusted to D.O.
