Johnnie L. Ballinger, 89, of Fort Wayne, died December 29, 2013 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home Fort Wayne. She was born September 29, 1924 in Denham Springs, Louisiana to the late Walter E. and Sara (Schillings) Cook. She married Stanley E. Ballinger in 1946, and they were together for 65 years, before he also preceded her in death in 2011. She was a member of Fort Wayne Baptist Church and retired in 1987 from SEARS after 21years of service.
She is survived by daughters, Linda (John) Saurer and Barbara (Daniel) Schweigel both of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Lisa (Mike) Hamblin, Jason (Amanda) Bond, Ben (Kristen) Saurer, and Dan (Kendra) Saurer and great grandchildren Preston Hamblin, Jacob Bond and Evan Saurer.
Funeral Services will be 11 AM Thursday January 2, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior, Rev. William Allan officiating. Calling will also be held from 2 to 5 PM Wednesday January 1, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lindenwood Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
