Joseph was born in New Haven, IN to the late Amos and Viola (Graber) Gerig.

Joseph was a carpenter and a member of the Old Order Amish Church District #20.

Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Rosa (Miller) Gerig, children, Joseph J. (Lucinda Kay) Gerig, Mary May (John Jay) Graber, DiAnn Kay (Orvie M.) Schmucker, 6 grandchildren,

Jayden Lamar, (special friend Melinda Rose), Makenna Danae, Kaylee Rae, Kevin Lamar, Darrin Devon, and Kristin Kay, siblings, Paul (Marie), Jonas (Darla), Alvie (Carolyn),

Edwin (Ruth), Martha (Enos), Margaret (Mervin), Marie (Victor), Anna Mae (Amos,) and Eileen (Andy), brother-in-law David Miller. Preceding Joseph in death was his

parents Amos and Viola (Graber) Gerig, brother Victor Gerig, sister Elizabeth Miller, and brother-in-law Victor Wagler.

Funeral service was 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at the Joseph & Lucinda Gerig’s Residence 5932 Bruick Road New Haven, IN 46774 calling was from 9:00 a.m. Monday until 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at the family home. Burial was in the Milan Center Old Order Amish Cemetery 14702 Doty Rd. New Haven, IN.
