

Kendra Carmean Poindexter was born on October 16, 1986 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She is the eldest child of Lewis and Gwendolyn Y. Stephens Poindexter. Kendra left this world to be with her Savior on September 9, 2025 at 1:17 am.
Kendra expressed her faith early in life and maintained a spiritual commitment. She attended Cornerstone Christian College Preparatory School, Miami Middle School and South Side High School where she graduated in 2006. Kendra continued her education at Chosen Christian Beauty and Barber College and obtained her cosmetology license. She also attended Brown Mackie College and became a phlebotomist.
Kendra’s work ethics began at the age of 10 at Queen of the Nile Beauty Supply. Upon completing her studies, she gained professional experience at T’s Touch Beauty Salon, Jesse and Son Barber and Beauty Salon and Life Care Center of Fort Wayne. Due to health challenges, she was required to discontinue her professional career.
In 2010, Kendra met Marc Shuler and they welcomed their beautiful daughter Rosemary in 2016. She is the highlight of their lives!
Kendra was predeceased by her sister, Nikki Marie, her grandparents, Ezell and Rosetta Dowdell Stephens, as well as Hugh and Mary Bowden Poindexter.
Kendra was a dedicated mother, daughter, sister and aunt. She valued quality time with family and friends. Her presence will be greatly missed by those who knew her. Kendra is survived by her
daughter, Rosemary Lynn Poindexter; parents, Lewis and Gwendolyn Y. Stephens Poindexter; companion, Marc Shuler; sister, Miquala Poindexter; brother, Xavier Poindexter (Selena Morgan); niece, Nyla Poindexter and nephews, Xavier Poindexter and Zayden Morgan; godmother, Norma Byrd; aunts, Georgia Howell, Carolyn Steen, Whicheetah Palmer, Diana (Arnold) Scruggs, Peggy Stephens-Williams and Sharon Stephens; uncles, Jeffrey (Donna) Smith, Shelton (Nina) Stephens and Curtis Stephens; great aunts, Syreldia Bowen and Angeline Barron; great uncle, Isaac Hudson Stephens; special friends, Rachel Busche, Khadijaj Underwood and Brittany Curry, along with many beloved cousins and other cherished relatives and friends.
A visitation for Kendra will be held Friday, September 19, 2025 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at The Destiny Dome Embassy of Cathedral of Praise, 3501 Harris Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46808. A celebration of Kendra's life will follow at 1:00 pm.
She will be laid to rest in Lindenwood Cemetery, 2324 West Main Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46808.
In honor of Kendra's memory, attendees are asked to wear orange, her favorite color.
