Born July 9, 1930, Louise Barnhart passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN on March 22, 2026.
She worked as a secretary at Magnavox, Hamilton Hunter, and retired from Fort Wayne Community Schools after 22. 5 years in 1997. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star; #136, Churubusco, Sigma Eta Nu Chapter: IAEOP. She loved her college basketball (IU & Purdue). She supported all women’s sports and, of course the Cubbies.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Mary Lois (McGuire) Gross, as well as her husband, Donald J. Barnhart in 2009, sister Constance Teghtmeyer and two brothers, Donald and Robert Gross.
She is survived by her sister, MaryAnn (Gross) Hazen and brother, Lynn Gross; sons,Tim (Vivian) Barnhart and Kent Barnhart (Anne Karsten). Five grandchildren - Aaron (Samantha) Barnhart, Rhys (Amanda) Barnhart, Spencer (Jamie) Barnhart, Katie Barnhart, Emma Barnhart and 5 great-grandchildren - Landon, Hadley, Rhys, Jr., Reagan and Madalyn.
Funeral services are 11:00 AM Monday, March 30, 2026, at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Pine Valley Park, 1320 East Dupont Road, (46825) with calling one hour before. The internment will be at Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco, IN immediately following the service.
Calling will also be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, 2:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 PM at the funeral home with an Order of Eastern Star #65 Memorial Service beginning at 4:30 PM.
