Lucille C. Kus (née Savarino), age 82, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Five Star Residences in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was born on December 18, 1942, in Monessen, Pennsylvania, and proud of her Italian heritage.
Lucille earned her B.A. from Oakland University, in Rochester, Michigan, and went on to graduate school, earning her M.A. in Counseling from Oakland University. She worked as a counselor until her retirement.
Lucille married Chester A. Kus and they spent many years living in the Rochester, Michigan area before moving to Fort Wayne, IN. Lucille and Chet enjoyed spending time with their family and traveling. Lucille also enjoyed fashion, music, theatre, and cooking. She was a member of the Rochester Symphony Orchestra Society and active in other civic and charitable organizations in Michigan.
Lucille is survived by her stepchildren, Susan (Victor Raharijaona) Kus, of Memphis, TN, Christopher (Helen Chiang) Kus, of Saratoga Springs, NY, Mary Louise (Christopher) Melly, of Port Angeles, WA, Thomas (Susan Hobson) Kus, of Fort Wayne, IN; step-grandchildren, Jacob (Laura Calabria) Melly, Jesse (Kae) Kus, Geoffrey Melly, Landy Kus, Lauren Hobson Kus, Lindsey (Will) Marshall, Andrew Hobson Kus; and step-great-granddaughter, Tara Kus.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, George and Susan Savarino; her brothers, Vincent Savarino and Richard Savarino; and her husband, Chester A. Kus.
There will be a private family service with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne, IN.
